About

OK. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea what I’m doing. I have never blogged before. So bear with me.

I can only imagine how this looks to you – a blog called awesome. What kind of a self-righteous prick does something like that? Me, apparently. But that’s not how it is. I promise.

My name is Dan. I live in Philadelphia. I have the most amazing wife. Together we made the most amazing little girl who has been hard at work making me an all-around better human being since September ‘09. We live in an amazing rowhouse buried knee-deep in Passyunk Square – a really cool place to live with lots of bikes and beards nearby. Mine has brakes on it, but it’s cool. I do my best to distribute time between my family; our perpetual DIY re-model; our undying love of art, furniture and just about anything MidCentury Modern; Sweat Fitness, SEPTA, and Neiman Group.

I’m a web developer. Yes, I know… you’re impressed. I’m used to the attention. I’ve been having my way with the internet for the better part of 10 years now, and I’ve always managed to keep somewhat of a low profile about it. Why? Well, I’m good at what I do. I know it. I’ve just never really felt the need to remind everyone around me. The only people who need to know are the people who pay me. And they do.

Ever since this weblog thing took off a few years back, I’ve always thought to myself – I should start one of them up, talk up a bunch of compelling content, get tons of traffic, drop some AdSense and retire. The unfortunate truths are:

A. It doesn’t happen like that. Not anymore.
B. I’ve never had so much as a portfolio site, much less an interplace to brag about my shit.
C. Up until about 2 weeks ago, I absolutely despised WordPress.

The times they are a-changin’.

I’ve started this process a few times. And I’ve always used the fact that I have nothing [nice] to say as a cop-out. Fact is, I have plenty to say. And contrary to popular belief (if you know me), some of it is actually nice. Not all of it, just some. I normally just keep it to myself and those close to me. It’s time to share.

Back to #awesome. Why not? There’s so much cool shit out there – online and off. I see and touch it everyday. I get links to it over IM all the time. I learn about it every 30 seconds by following you on twitter. A lot of it is awesome. And this is where I can talk about it.

Thank you for listening.
